Total Reading has mainly spread by "word of mouth"

publicity at
hotel
workshops .
NOW
Total Reading is conducting an exploratory search for:
• independent
or retired teachers and/or
• college
graduates
who are interested in
bringing basic skills to public education.
No area is too small, and actually Total Reading is
used the most in the smaller rural and suburban districts.
FIRST
Total Reading trains
new Representative in the use of the program materials with the Total
Reading Audio/Visual Workshop.
THEN
Total Reading provides Representative with a complete set of teacher and student materials and
publicity and order forms.
Representative talks to friends, teachers, and administrators
that she/he knows in the area, to see if there is enough interest to
hold a hotel workshop.
TOTAL READING ADVERTISES HOTEL
WORKSHOPS
Total Reading
sets up workshop time and place.
Total
Reading sends labels, fliers, envelopes and postage for Representative
to put together and mail out to schools.
Representative calls schools (Total Reading
provides long distance services) to be sure they received the fliers and
encourages them to distribute the fliers to teachers. (School
secretaries are helpful when they aren't too busy.)
AT THE WORKSHOP
A Total
Reading Teaching Consultant comes to teach the workshop.
Representative talks to participants at
the workshop about sending out the DVD/Video Presentation Kit
and offers school presentations.
The
Representative explains that the Total Reading Pilot Program is
a way for teachers to try out the phonetic decoding
before a school decides to adopt Total Reading.
FOLLOW UP
Representative gives presentations
at schools, following a script from Total Reading.
Schools contact Representative to
make purchase orders that Total Reading fulfills.
Total Reading pays
Representative commission
when school makes payment.
Total Reading exhibits at local reading
conferences where Representative wants to participate.
